What Is A RSS Feed?

So you want to know what an RSS Feed is? Well you have come to the right place. I have been working with a lot of different technologies to do with RSS Feeds recently and I am so exited about the power of using these methods.

I will give a brief overview of what this service is and how you can use this service to promote website and actually build content for a website in this article. I will be sharing more in the next few articles on how to really use the complete power of these methods to develop massive back links and spread your content across the internet with the least amount of effort and the most return!

RSS – Really Simple Syndication

Is a internet service that has been around for years now, but has really been picking up in popularity, as the technology has matured with the new Web 2.0 sites like myspace, facebook and twitter. So RSS, as stated above stands for “Really Simple Syndication” and it allows a website to give a live stream of updates in a format that can be used in your web browser, email client or on your favorite news reader appliction. This simply means that you can get all of the updates from your favorite websites in one place, instead of having to go to each website to see if there are any new posts or articles.

If you want to see an example of a rss feed, just go to feedburner, this is a google site and it is used to track and promote your rss feeds. Just type “Feed Burner” into google and it will be the first link. You can search others RSS Feeds Here and see what “exactly” an rss feed is.
Normal RSS feeds only have 2 different data fields a Title and a Short Description. There are some specialized feeds that allow for attachments of videos or podcasts as well. Depending on the web service you are using to create your feed you may be able to use links within the feed or not.
Some popular RSS models are:

RSS .091

RSS 1.0

RSS 2.0

Atom .03

OPML

RSS Feeds are a great way to get your information out to the world and if you do not have a mailing list on your site anybody can subscribe to your website updates using it. So this in mind, I highly suggest using this service on your web site or web sites.

Nick Simpson

Do You Ad Value To Your Twitter Messages

Our Favorite Twitter Money System

Many folks are using twitter strickly for promotion purposes. There is nothing wrong with that, but, at the same time you must bring value to every message or the followers you do have will not be responsive to your twitter messages. If every message you send out is a request for a purchase or to join a program, people simply stop watching your twitter tweets.
If you want to keep your twitter follower’s attention, you need to work on making many informational tweets, between your promotional tweets. This lets the readers know that you always have fresh and useful information and I cannot stress the importance of this. Now when an ad comes out from your twitter account the followers know that you only bring quality and integrity and will give your product or service a true review.

Just like anything, nobody likes spam and twitter is no different. If you are just spamming links, people stop looking at what you have to offer and in many cases may actually stop following you all together. This is not the way you want your twitter account to go, so by taking some rather easy precautions and yes maybe a little more time, you can assure your followers that you are bringing the best of the web to them in every twitter tweet you send out and they will respond accordingly.

Another great way to bring a continued high level of value to your twitter messages while still beeing able to advertise is by writing a short ebook. You then can post messages once a week or maybe more often if you really keep your twitter account active, letting people know where they can download the free ebook on the topic of your niche. In your ebook, simply add the needed links to your product or service and believe me, you will surprised with the huge response.

Many time people are much more likely to get involved with a paid program or service, if they have already noticed the value that you are just giving away. It makes since, if you are surprised with the quality of free product, you assume the value of a paid product is much higher, this is basic human nature.

Just remember adding value to every post you make on twitter will drive your clickthrough rate through the roof. So Take you time and make each tweet count.

Nick Simpson

How To Submit Your RSS Feed

If you already have a website that uses RSS Feeds, I am sure that you know what they are and assume that you would know that you can use this feed to syndicate your website content all over the internet.  However, there is much discussion on how and where to do this effectively and easily. I  have a couple of RSS tricks that you can use to get your website information syndicated to all the top rss feed directories quickly and easily, so if you are ready to take your web site promotion to the next level and grow your website exposure over night, keep reading.

RSS Directories

Much like article directories like “Ezine Articles” and “Go Articles” there are many RSS Feed directories on the internet that are nothing more than a large database of user submitted RSS Feeds.  These sites can be a small goldmine to a webmaster or internet marketer if they are used correctly.  You can do a google search, locate these sites, sign up for an account and submit your RSS Feed.  However we do not think that this is the best way to spend your time promoting your site.  In fact we think that this is a pretty serious waste of your time.

If you are using a Word Press blog you already have a build in “Ping List” that would let you list each of the sites.

RSS Feed Smart Submission

The best way to get your RSS feed submitted to many different sites all at once is to use an RSS Feed Submission service. No these do not cost anything, they are free and easy to use.  In most cases you can submit to up to 20-30 RSS Feed directories with a single submission using these free web based applications.

If you are interested in getting your feed submitted quickly have the following information ready:

1. Your Blog Name

2. Your Blog Description
3. Your Blog URL (domain name)
4. Your Blog RSS Feed URL (web site address when viewing your rss feed)
5. Podcast Information (if you have one)

O.K. now that you have it all together, jot down these search phrases :

“Feed Shark”

“ping-o-matic”

“Pingoat”

Now these 3 services are all very similar and they are all free to use.  They do have some different listings and there are some sites that each will submit to that are the same.  Many people worry about submitting duplicate content or to the same directories twice.  I have never had a problem with this, in most all cases, the second submission is simply rejected and not indexed an additional time.

I will submit my feed to each of these services once, then I will do the same again every time that I add a new post to my website.  If you are using a wordpress blog you can have this done automatically for you, when you add a new post.

I hope you have found this article to be helpful and informative.

Nick Simpson
