Basic Affiliate Marketing Strategy
Affiliate marketing is huge! To be successful with affiliate marketing you will need a strategy to successfully make money and create a stream of profit. We are going to discuss the basics of affiliate marketing here, of course there is more to know, but these tips and strategies will get any internet marketer off to a good start.
1. What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Well Affiliate Marketing is nothing more than a referral system that pays.
Affiliate marketing used to only be available for the biggest companies out there, but affiliate networks have opened up this opportunity to even the little guys on the web.
It works like this. You go register to be an affiliate for a company, say Amazon.com and they will provide you with “Affiliate Links” to products on their site. These links have a code in them to track any sales and your account will be credited with a percentage of each sale that you refer.
Many companies will pay up to 50% of each sale, so you can see how this can be lucrative if you refer a lot of people to their products or services.
2. Find Affiliates Within Your Niche
It is very crucial that you find an affiliate program that is in the same market or niche that your website, blog or social sites are very interested in. You can search for affiliates in your niche and then locate the top paying affiliates to use. This will assure that you get the best response to your offers and that when somebody does buy, you get a good profit from each sale.
There is no use promoting a program that will only pay you one dollar per sale, unless you are selling hundreds a day. I have always thought that cheaper items sell more often, but really if you are going to make money, lets shoot for some real money, not a dollar here and there.

3. Never Spam, Ever!
This is common sense to some, but to many people spamming is what they call promotion. You cannot just throw up your link every place that will let you and hope for sales. That is not how affiliate marketing works. In most cases you will get banned from sites, forums and other places you do this, so don’t waste your time doing it.
4. Promote Your Affiliate Program!
I think the #1 way to start promoting an affiliate program is to blog about it and similar interests. Go to http://blogger.com and start a free blog today! If you want a professional blog for cheap, we suggest AlienServ they provide cheap hosting and easy blog setup.
Blogging is a great way to get some true content out there and don’t be afraid to link to your affiliate program here, it is your site after all.
Another great way to start promoting your item, is to start writing articles on the topic and placing your link in the author bio, this takes time, but has proved to be very beneficial in my online efforts.
You can use many of the popular social bookmarking sites, like http://digg.com and http://stumbleupon.com to get more attention to your blogs. I also suggest using RSS syndication to boost your blog traffic instantly.
Don’t forget your social networks. Join some social networks and then get involved in groups that are about your topic or niche get to know people and let them know about your products and offers.
5. Earn!
Now that you have started your promotion, you should start getting some money coming in soon, if not, just turn up your marketing efforts and the results will come! Affiliate marketing takes time and some effort, however it can payoff big time, if you put the work in.
