Getting Started – Planning
In the last post on “Getting Started” we talked about some questions that are helpful to ask yourself as you are putting together your “Webmaster Business Plan”. If you went through and answered those questions, congratulations, you have taken the first step to making real money online!
If you did not you really should go back and read our article titled In The Beginning.
If you are having difficulty deciding on which program, product or service you are going to promote and build your business around then you may like the information we have here at the Webmaster Business Plan on “Finding Your Niche“. We have a few articles that will help you focus your search on the most productive areas of internet business.
At the planning stage you should be thinking more about what strengths and weaknesses you have as a person and as a business. In the beginning stages of planning, taking time to look at how long your short term and long term goals for your internet business are actually going to take. Many times talking to others who are marketing on the internet is a good way to find realistic time lines for many common projects.
You will also want to start thinking about what tasks that you foresee in your business will come up and which ones you may be able to tend to now. Using forward thinking to attack problems before they arise will make your business start-up process much easier in the long run.
Many times I use the method described in Steven Covey’s 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People; Begin with the end in mind. Thinking like this will really help you get yourself in the right mindset for success with any business that you may have choosen to pursue. If you start with you making 60,000 dollars a year from your website, then rewind in your head from there, what type of website would you have to have to do that, what type of customer serive would you need, how many empoyees would be needed.
These type of questions are the answers that you need to focus on early on. By thinking like this you can put methods and proceedures in place before you even start your business that will assure its success moving forward.
You will also want to invest in some filling folders as you are putting together your thought on different topics this is a great way to keep organized as you are going through such a massive amount of information and ideas.
I hope this gets you moving in the right direction.
To Success,
Nick Simpson
